Thursday Things

My soul had other plans. Reminding myself to bring back into my daily practice of being present, that I need to be tender with myself. We are imperfect beings, growing and changing everyday and a little tenderness is like water, cleanses, nourishes, and allows for the clarity to set in.

  1. We finally have a healthy house here after a week of lots of coughs and boogers. I impulse bought these at CVS earlier this week and probably will never be going back to regular tissues.
  2. Spent Tuesday night watching Obama’s farewell speech and feeling all the feels (sad, inspired, helpless, enraged, proud, etc.). I sure am sad to see this family go.
  3. Yesterday was a *big* day in terms of news (i.e. Rex Tillerson’s Secretary of State Nomination Hearing, Ivanka’s Dad’s first press conference in months). I was particularly moved by testimony that was part of Jeff Sessions ‘ Attorney General hearing, both from Amita Swadhin, a sexual assault survivor and also New Jersey Senator Cory Booker.
  4. Anthro’s spring arrivals like this and this are making me v happy, and wishing for some warmer weather (and more hours of daylight).
  5. Women’s March on Washington is in just over a week! Have you registered to go yet?

thursday things

LOVE THIS:

  1. i initially heard about fakespot on buzzfeed and put it to use while searching for a bamboo pillow on amazon. it scans reviews of a product, and assesses the reviewers of that products based on reviews they’ve made of other products (a mouthful). before fakespot, i would purchase items on amazon solely on products with over 100 [good] reviews. but i found out that a lot of amazon reviews are bullshit! (i ended up purchasing this pillow, then subsequently falling in love with.)
  2. did you hear that frosé — frozen rosé wine with berries — is taking over the world? have you had it? did it change your life? my goal is to find some this weekend.
  3. will this dress look white in photos? i’ve been thinking about wearing it to a friend’s wedding in boston this weekend.
  4. i just started watching anthony bourdain’s ‘part’s unknown.’  it’s a similar format format as his previous shows in that it mixes food, culture and history. i would still highly recommend checking it out. as a sidenote: anyone else weirdly attracted to mr. bourdain? ❤
  5. after watching weeping through obama’s speech last night, it’s even more clear why it’s so important we all promise to do this.
  6. i’m not a huge animated movie person, but we saw ‘the secret life of pets’ and it was hysterical. the movies are a great way to beat the heat, and kevin hart as ‘snowball’ in the movie will surely make you ugly-laugh.
  7. this guy is one of the most entertaining and substantive voices on twitter during this political season so far.
  8. i’m current reading maestra by l.s. hilton and all i’m going to say is that it has all the great components of a great beach read (i.e. thrills, sex, incoherent nonsense, travel, etc.)
